What's holding you back from addressing your digestive health?

Often my clients say that they wish they had got on to addressing their gut health sooner, but they hadn't for reason a, b, c, d....

The most common reasons are:
1. It's embarrassing discussing what's going on with your digestive system.
Yes, I get it, I too had digestive issues and it wasn't something I was keen to discuss with anyone. However, as I say to my clients after 9 years, I've heard everything. The sooner I know as much detail as possible about your bowel movements, bloating, gas etc, the sooner I can assist you in addressing it.
2. Naturopaths are well known for being expensive.
Yes I get this too, I wish there was a set price for supplements and testing but then the treatment would not be individualised.
I personally try to minimise supplements whilst I am working out the cause of your gut concerns and then I try to do it as cost effectively as possible. Testing is only recommended if it is going to change the way I support your symptoms.
3. I don't want to change my diet.
This is something I am incredibly passionate about! Changing a diet has social and economic impacts for an individual so it is not something I do on a whim. I like to "add" to someone's diet rather than focus on elimination and I am always addressing diets with care and consideration.
4. I don't want to do a poo test!
I get it, no one wants to do a stool test however the information it provides to me is invaluable! It provides the direction for treatment, rules out risk factors and often shows me exactly what supplements are required.
5. I just didn't get around to it.
This one is very common, and understandable. However often the body has other plans for us, symptoms are the body's messengers to tell us that our gut is not working optimally and if we ignore those messages, they can lead to more messages aka more symptoms, or an increase in severity of symptoms. Getting on top of your health is important for addressing those messages, when they are smaller problems to fix rather than when they become chronic conditions.
It's important to address your health in a timely manner and to stop putting these things off!
Addressing your gut health is important and not something that should be put off. If you are struggling to address it, find a practitioner that resonates with you and that you feel comfortable with.
